UNDERGRADUATE APPLICATION FOR STUDENT TEACHING

Fall 2009

 

Application deadline is January 31, 2009. 

Application for student teaching must be made with the Office of Field Experiences one semester prior to the student teaching semester.  Students expecting to student teach in the fall semester must apply on or before January 31, 2008.  Concurrent enrollment in EDUC 4000 (3 credit hours) is required. 

Students are permitted to schedule student teaching when they have met the following requirements:

  1. Completion of all coursework in the certification and degree program except for student teaching (9 credit hours)  and EDUC 4000 (3 credit hours).

A student will not be permitted to schedule an academic load in excess of 12 semester hours during the student teaching semester.

  1. Approval of the Director of Field Experiences.

 All students applying to student teach in Fall 2009 must enroll in EDSP 3001 in Spring 2009 and must complete all coursework by August of 2009.

** PLACEMENT NOTE
Student Teachers are placed in teaching environments which will provide them with optimal professional growth. All assignments are made by the Director of Field Experiences in collaboration with the school districts, individual school principals and cooperating teachers. Assignments are made in schools in the Greater New Orleans area that are approved by the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education. Every attempt will be made to place students in the district requested; however, placement in the requested district is not guaranteed.

Completion of this application does not guarantee eligibility to student teach Fall 2009.

NOTE: You must register for EDSP 3001 Spring of 2009 in order to student teach Fall 2009.
