Dr. Roxane L. Dufrene

Dr. Dufrene earned her MA in Counseling Psychology from Nicholls State University and Ph.D. in Counselor Education with a minor in research from Mississippi State University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Board Approved Supervisor in Louisiana, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Nationally Certified Counselor. Dr. Dufrene is presently Vice-Chair of the Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners. She is certified in Crisis Intervention Stress Management, has Louisiana Appraisal Privilege, and is an American Red Cross Mental Health Counselor. She teaches courses and conducts research related to crisis counseling, assessment, and ethics. She has served on several editorial boards for professional journals, including the Journal of College Counseling and has previously served on the Bioethics Committee and Pastoral Consultation Committee at Cabell Huntington Hospital in West Virginia. She is actively involved in state and national organizations including the American Counseling Association, Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, and the American College Counseling Association. Dr. Dufrene has clinical experience in outpatient and inpatient state mental health treatment, college counseling, crisis intervention, counseling training clinics, and hospice. Previously she was a faculty member at the Marshall University in West Virginia and Northwestern State University in Louisiana.
Dr. Barbara Herlihy

Dr. Herlihy earned her M.Ed. in Counseling from Miami University of Ohio and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Northwestern University. Her areas of interest in teaching and scholarship include counselor ethics, multicultural counseling, supervision, and feminist therapy. She is the co‑author of six books including the ACA Ethical Standards Casebook (6th ed.; 2006) with Gerald Corey; Ethical, Legal, and Professional Issues in Counseling (updated 2nd ed.; 2007) with Dr. Ted Remley; Boundary Issues in Counseling: Multiple Roles and Responsibilities,(2nd ed.; 2006) with Gerald Corey; and the 4th and 5th editions of the American Counseling Association Ethical Standards Casebook and Dual Relationships in Counseling. She has published over 65 journal articles and book chapters. Dr. Herlihy has served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Counseling and Development, The School Counselor, and Directions in Mental Health Counseling. She was a member of the ACA Ethics Code Revision Taskforce (2002-2005) and has chaired the American Counseling Association Ethics Committee. In 2000, she received the Outstanding Mentor Award from the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES). Dr. Herlihy has been a school counselor in Ohio and Illinois and a counselor in community settings and private practice in Texas. Previously, she was a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin‑Whitewater, the University of Houston‑Clear Lake, and Loyola University of New Orleans. She is licensed as a Professional Counselor, and is a Board-Approved Counselor Supervisor and National Certified Counselor. In 2007, she was awarded the designation of University Research Professor.
Dr. Louis V. Paradise

Dr. Paradise holds a B.S. from Pennsylvania State University, a Diploma from the Foreign Service Institute of the U.S. Department of State, an M.S. from Bucknell University and a Ph.D. from the University of Virginia. His teaching and research interests include ethical issues in counseling, cognitive behavioral counseling and research methodology. Dr. Paradise previously served on the graduate faculty of Catholic University in Washington, D.C. He has experience as a university counseling center counselor, a counselor at a hospital psychiatric clinic, and a program evaluator. He has served multiple terms on the editorial boards of Counselor Education and Supervision, Journal of Counseling and Development, Counseling and Values, and the Journal of Mental Health Counseling. He is a licensed psychologist, a member of the Academy of Counseling Psychology, an LPC, an NCC, and a certified school psychologist. He has served in administrative positions as the first program coordinator of counselor education, the department chair, the college dean, the vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost, and the first university’s executive vice chancellor. He is the author or coauthor of five books and over 60 professional articles. His research and scholarly articles are published in 36 different professional journals.
Dr. Zarus Watson

Dr. Watson holds a B.A. from Tulane College of Tulane University and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of New Orleans. Dr. Watson conducts ongoing research in the areas of systemic social theory, including conditioning models of communication and perception, identity development, organizational counseling and evaluation, and consultation models in business. Dr. Watson is co-principal investigator on projects in the Orleans Parish Public School System, including and African American adolescent male focus group initiative, and the National Finance Center’s Dept. of Workforce Services of the United States Department of Agriculture. He is a member of Chi Sigma Iota counseling honor society, the American Counseling Association, Louisiana Counseling Association, Louisiana Association of Multicultural Counseling and Development, American Educational Research Association, and the Association of Black Psychologists.
