Helene Derbigny is the Director of the Office of Field Experiences.  She collaborates with school district personnel in the greater New Orleans area, identifies and secures student teaching placements and provides trainings on various topics related to field experiences.  Mrs. Derbigny previously served a Teacher in Residence where she taught EDUC courses and served as a College Coordinator to supervise student teachers.  Prior to her employment with the university in the College of Education and Human Development, she was employed for 17 years as teacher and administrator in Orleans Parish Schools.  Mrs. Derbigny played a key role in the start up process of the UNO Charter Schools.  Her interests include urban education, school reform efforts and meeting the needs of students who live in poverty.
