Ms. LaFonta served as a dedicated educator to children in the New Orleans Public Schools for ten years. During this time, she also mentored new teachers, served as a Cooperating Teacher for Student Teachers, was a guest speaker at an educational event featuring Laura Bush, and was honored in Washington, D.C. by Court TV for her contribution to education.
Ms. LaFonta teaches in the Special Eduation Dept.. She serves as a College Coordinator for Student Teachers and played an integral role in the development and planning of Pierre A. Capdau UNO Charter School. "I really enjoy working with and guiding pre-service teachers on their journey through the UNO Teacher Education program. It's extremely rewarding to know that I'm helping prepare future educators!"
