Dr. McHugh, a native of upstate New York is a passionate early childhood educator who loves teaching and living in New Orleans because of its rich heritage and cultural diversity. Prior to moving to New Orleans, she acquired eleven years experience as a primary and preschool teacher, three years as a college instructor, along with seven years supervisory experience as a Head Start center director, education coordinator and regional consultant. THis varied practical experience has provided her with the requisite skills necessary to help preK-3 teacher canddiates, novice teachers, and child development center directors provide area children with the best possible early childhood education. Dr. McHugh's interests include classroom guidance, teacher and student interactions, teacher thinking, discourse analysis, advocacy and cooking.
