Dr. Tammie M. Causey-Konaté is an Associate Professor of Educational Leadership and serves as Graduate Coordinator for those doctoral candidates pursuing a terminal degree in K-12 Educational Administration. She is actively involved on a number of committees including the Doctoral Standards Committee, the Committee for K-12 thru 16+ Education, and the College Diversity Committee. Additionally, Dr. Causey-Konaté is a certified member of the Board of Examiners for the State of Louisiana in partnership with the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). As well, she serves on the editorial boards of The Journal of Negro Education and the NASSP Bulletin. Causey-Konaté’s research interests include educational leadership, mentoring, critical theory, middle level education, and culturally responsive educational leadership. She has co-authored two book chapters and two articles in refereed journals. Also, from 2004 to 2006, Causey-Konaté was involved in Textbooks for a Global Society (T.A.G.S.), an international literacy-building initiative in Guinea, West Africa which was funded by President George W. Bush. Through this research project, she, in collaboration with her colleagues from Dillard University, investigated the Guinean educational system and the instructional and leadership practices of the country’s educators and provided professional development and consultation for 27 Guinean scholars charged with leading the improvement of literacy via the revision and development of language arts textbooks. Prior to Dr. Causey-Konaté’s appointment at the University of New Orleans, she served as the Assistant Dean of the Division of Educational and Psychological Studies at Dillard University for five years. She is a graduate of the University of New Orleans and has studied at the University of Innsbruck in Austria and on the main campuses of Louisiana State University and Southern University.
