Goal
To establish a sustainable consortium to increase Louisiana’s capacity to make high quality, performance-based initial and advanced teacher education programs accessible statewide.
Vision
The Louisiana Low Incidence Disabilities Consortium ensures that all educators are continuously provided effective preparation and professional development so students with low incidence disabilities (students who are/have Significant Disabilities, Blind/Visually Impaired/ Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Autism and Autism Spectrum Disorders, Deaf-Blind) have access to high quality education.
Mission
The Louisiana Low Incidence Disabilities Consortium is a collaborative partnership among educational agencies, organizations, families, and other state and national resources. The LA-LIDC:
- Exerts leadership to provide performance-based, high-quality teacher preparation and professional development in response to field-based needs.
- Utilizes innovative, dynamic multi-media technology to ensure statewide accessibility of coursework and professional development.
- Ensures students are engaged in meaningful, quality learning.
- Facilitates development, storage, and retrieval of educational materials for teacher preparation and professional development.
- Uses adult learning communities to develop teacher leaders to serve as instructional mentors.
- Provides an infrastructure to ensure continuous improvement
and sustainability.
